The Aspirant Dancer Program (ADP)

“...re-affirms KSD as the place to be for the highest quality and standards in the art of dance in YGK."

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

  • Annual progress report from each instructor/style (Term 1)

  • Annual meeting with the Artistic Director (Term 2)

  • KSD/ADP Merchandise item

  • A weekly time slot dedicated to dancer conditioning, workshops, creative process development, and rehearsals

  • Cast in original choreographic works by both in-house and guest choreographers, leading to performance opportunities throughout the season

    On the recommendation of the Artistic Director, dancers will be offered the opportunity to participate in biannual ballet examinations.

COMMITMENT:

  • Flat fee of $400 charged at the beginning of Term 1 (costume, classes, additional performance fees, etc.)

  • Commitment to weekly classes, as scheduled, as well as weekly ADP conditioning/performance class

  • Commitment by dancers/guardians to support fundraising initiatives of the Artist Development Program


    ADP students may have the opportunity to participate in annual out-of-town workshops and student exchange field trips.

About the
Kingston Youth Dance Ensemble

The first week of classes will serve as “AUDITIONS” for the Kingston Youth Dance Ensemble (KYDE). This is for students who are interested in and available to be cast in additional KYDE choreography.
The Artistic Director and annual guest/in-house choreographers cast ADP student who audition in various works that are created and performed through the season. You must be an ADP student to attend audition.

JUNIOR AUDITIONS 2026 - Tuesday, September 15th 6:30-7:30pm
SENIOR AUDITIONS 2026 - Wednesday, September 16th 5-6pm

Casting is release 2-5 days after the audition, and rehearsals will happen within the weekly JUNIOR or SENIOR ADP class, along with additional rehearsals as needed.

All KYDE dancers will be required to sign an company agreement. Due to the commitment and rehearsal expectations involved, students who are heavily involved in other extracurricular activities are encouraged to carefully consider their availability before auditioning for KYDE choreography.
