Community Let’s Dance Fund
Supporting Dreams.
Strengthening Community.
-
At KSD, we believe no family should have to limit the dreams of the dancer in their household due to financial barriers. For years, the school has proudly supported the artistic pursuits of our students in various informal ways. With the creation of the Community Let’s Dance (CLD) Fund, we’ve formalized this support into a more accessible and reliable foundation for our community.
Each student supported through the CLD Fund is considered based on both the financial circumstances of their household and the goals and aspirations of the dancer. Every opportunity is uniquely tailored to the applicant, and we are committed to fairness and inclusivity. We strive to ensure that ALL members of the KSD community—whether supported by the CLD Fund or not—have access to meaningful opportunities and community perks.
To remain eligible, families must be in good financial standing with the school and must adhere to any agreed-upon payment schedules for subsidized tuition. Timely payment of the reduced fees is essential to maintaining access to the program and ensuring its sustainability for others in need.

Families may apply to be considered for KSD’s Community Let’s Dance Fund by submitting a letter of intent, written either by the dancer or by a parent/guardian. This letter should be emailed directly to the school’s Artistic Director, Kay Kenney, at kay@kingstonschoolofdance.ca.
In addition to the letter, families must also provide one of the following supporting documents:
A copy of their Canada Child Benefit (CCB) statement issued by the Canada Revenue Agency, or
A copy of the Record of Employment (ROE) for the parent(s) or guardian(s).
These documents help us assess eligibility and allocate funding fairly based on need.

The Kingston School of Dance also offers an Energy Exchange Program designed for mature youth dancers (typically age 11 and up). Through this program, students volunteer weekly—either as teaching assistants, studio cleaners, or assistant camp coordinators—in exchange for subsidized tuition. For every 2 hours of volunteer work per week (or the equivalent in camp hours), KSD provides 1 hour of dance training at no cost.
The number of volunteer hours required is flexible and based on the family's financial need, allowing us to tailor the program to each student’s circumstances.Additionally, you may want to apply to the Jumpstart Program, which provides individual grants for children's activities.
