Hello KSD Families and friends,

As the leaves slowly turn color and the back to school rush subsides we take time to enjoy warmth and hospitality with our loved ones and of course DANCE!! We have had an exciting start to the new term with brand new programs, new teachers and office manager, a performance company, on-line dance wear boutique and inspiring workshops.

Please remember that the studio will be closed this weekend for Thanksgiving! Enjoy time off with your family and friends! We wish you a happy memorable holiday!

Some of our senior dancers and teachers performed for the Gord Downie Life and Legacy Event on September 28th which helped raise over $10,000 for Home Based Housing and the Downie Wenjack Fund. Culture Days was a success as well with our Artist in Residence Kay Kenney who gave open workshops for our community. Some of our Hip hop, lyrical, ballet and contemporary dancers are working hard to present a great show at our upcoming performance at the Leon Center on November 1st.

Many of our ballet students attended auditions for the RWB production of the Nutcracker and Wizard of Oz on October 6th. We are very proud of them!

Acclaimed Canadian choreographer Shawn Hounsell will be here on October 26th as well as the 16th of November to teach Master workshops in ballet, contemporary and pas de deux, we are thrilled to have him!

Kingston School of Dance embroidered jackets are now available on our website e-boutique. Pre-Order is only open until OCTOBER 31st so order now! https://ksd.johnnybrown.ca/en/ourcollections/items_with_logo

One again we invite students to get into the Halloween spirit as students are welcome to dance in their costumes from Saturday October 26th until October 30th. We will be closed on the 31st, Happy trick or treating everyone!

Ebon Gage is back in the studio on Tuesday nights with pianist Scott Davies and his adult ballet class is always packed. We are thankful; for your support and enthusiasm for dance.

We are currently looking for volunteers for a sewing committee to help us reduce costume costs this year! If you are interested in sharing your creativity and skills send us an email at ksd@kingstonschoolofdance.ca and we will provide you with more information.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are looking forward to a fun-filled term!

New Teachers in our Studios

We are thrilled to have Sierra Brewerton join us this spring. Sierra will be teaching Tap, Barre Burn and Stretch Leap and Turn. Sierra is an accomplished dancer and actress who performs regularly in Musical Theatre and in film. Welcome to KSD!!

We also have Holly Rose Lorenzon teaching our B- Boyz , she is a member of the KinetiQ Crew and a real expert in Freestyle. We look forward to having her bust a move with our dancers! You can read more about these wonderful ladies below.

Sierra Brewerton

Actor, Singer, Dancer

“I love your personality and think you are so charismatic! That’s a quality you can’t teach.”

– Carolina Lancaster, Triple Threat Dance Convention

Born and raised in the greater Vancouver area, Sierra has been singing, dancing and acting since the age of six. She recently graduated from high school and Danzmode Productions where she studied all dance styles intensively. She still continues to take private singing lessons, and studies acting with Shea Hampton.

During her competitive dance days, Sierra was fortunate to travel to New York, LA, and Las Vegas to train and compete. She won First Place National Tap Soloist at West Coast Dance Explosion in Las Vegas, and was named BC Provincial Champion in the stage/tap category in Duncan, BC. She also received numerous scholarships over the years at dance conventions, competitions, and vocal festivals.

Sierra has already established an impressively versatile professional career. After switching to online schooling at age 17, she travelled to Alberta after being cast in Anne Of Green Gables with Theatre Calgary; she was the youngest performer ever hired by the theatre company for a show that didn’t involve children. Sierra has also worked in many musicals in Vancouver including Gypsy (Arts Club), Sound of music (RCMT/Footlight), and Singing in the Rain (TUTS, Grace MacDonald Most Promising Dancer Recipient).

Other credits of Sierras include: Mariana’s Trench music videos “Pop 101” and “Stutter”, Amanda Blush music video “Give It All”, two seasons of the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular (Tap Dance Captain), docudrama My Evil Sister (Supporting), and short film Inked Hearts (Lead) and several regional and national commercials.
